Photowalk through Columbia Pioneer Cemetery

After years of driving by, I finally took the opportunity to pull over and take a walk through Columbia Pioneer Cemetery (AKA Columbia Masonic Cemetery). It was established 1877 when it must have been out in the middle of nowhere. Since then, Portland’s urban sprawl has encroached and completely enclosed this little cemetery. What’s fascinating is the fact that it now sits surrounded by a residential area, a bar, a gas station and at the intersection of Sandy Blvd. and Highway 205. I’m glad I made the time to take a little photowalk - here’s what I saw. Larger versions are on my studio site.
